Intercropping Cash Crops

jatropha

The development of a Jatropha plantation requires a considerable up front investment from the farmer prior to reaping the full production value of a 5 year-old plantation.

In coordination with INTA and the Ministry of Agriculture of Costa Rica, GFE is conducting inter-cropping of Jatropha with high yield cash generating crops to provide a sustainable transition for small co-op farms and large plantations.

The products GFE is currently inter-cropping are Watermelon, Habanera Peppers, Cayenne Peppers, Cheyenne (Mesilla) Peppers, Papaya, and Cas (Guava Family).
